How long does a Memory foam mattress last?

How long does a memory foam mattress last? I think the regular spring bed usually last 10 years before the springs are worn out.

One of the first companies to make this claim was the Tempur-pedic bed with the “visco elastic foam” that they claimed was a superior bed because the bed supposedly conformed to your body. I knew a lady who bought this very expensive bed and she liked it but said that she paid too much money because there were other companies making similar products for less money.

I wanted a new bed but knew that it wasn’t in my budget at the time. I bought a bed “topper.” This is supposed to be of the same material as the Temur-pedic bed but is just a piece of foam that fits over the top of your old mattress. I think mine was 6 inches thick and was very heavy. I have used mine for several years now and I must say that I am very comfortable while sleeping on it. To answer you question more clearly I will say that I haven’t noticed any degrading of the foam itself in several years. I can’t say for sure how long it will last but I don’t see any problems in the near future. All beds are made of various type of foam and they last for many years. Based on this I would say that it should last at least as long as any other mattress and they can last many years depending on how there treated. All manufactures of mattresses will tell you to periodically flip the mattress and change it end for end (place the head at the foot and the foot at the head.) This will make the mattress last longer by not having any uneven wear or saggy spots.

Comfortable Memory Foam Pillow

Posted by admin on January 17th, 2011 and filed under memory foam | 6 Comments »

The health benefits of getting the right amount and quality of sleep has gotten the attention not just of health practitioners worldwide, but of business tycoons as well. This attention has led to the introduction of the memory foam mattress to consumers in different parts of the world and the subsequent improvement in the quality of sleep experienced by those who have given this new product a try. Perhaps due to the success of the memory foam mattress, manufacturers began to look into the business of developing other products that would complement the mattress. This is where the memory foam pillow comes in.

Pillows are now one of those parts of our lives that are so normal we do not even think about them. It can be hard to imagine sleeping without one and very few people indeed would be able to sleep soundly without a pillow. To address the needs of different individuals, several types of pillows have been invented. There are hypoallergenic pillows, aromatherapy pillows, organic pillows and several other types of pillows. This time, a new type of pillow is being introduced, guaranteed to give one a good night’s sleep.

The main argument for the memory foam pillow’s use is that the mattress leaves out one of the most important part of our body which needs to get relief from pressure — the neck. While the mattress provides great support for the shoulders, back and legs, the neck can still be a tad uncomfortable. And we all know that even a tiny bit of discomfort can rob us of an entire night’s quality sleep. So they created a memory foam pillow to match the mattress, hence allowing the user to experience maximum benefit from the memory foam.

So far, the pillows have been reported to relieve headaches and have proven to be a perfect match for the mattress. It appears to have become as successful as its predecessor in providing sleep comforts to consumers and is now available anywhere the mattress is sold. Some would even suggest to those who are on a budget, that purchasing the memory foam pillow can be a life-altering experience all by itself. Even without the mattress, the pillow can provide the same benefits by absorbing the pressure from your neck and head. So perhaps this is the perfect low-budget solution to your daily bouts of stiff neck. For a relatively small investment, you can have a restful night and wake up to a bright new day.

Just like any consumer product, there are several things to consider before buying your own memory foam pillow. For best results, it is advisable to get a memory foam pillow that has a density of about 5-6lbs and is between 4″-5″ thick. You would also do well to check the retailers return, exchange and warranty policies. Equally important is to check testimonials from people who have actually used the product, as this will contribute a good deal to your decision on whether this product in fact suits your needs or not. Once you have taken all these into consideration, it will be a lot easier to choose the perfect product that will give you a restful night and a beautiful morning after.

If you are tight on storage space
store it under a bed
inbetween matress and box spring

If not then just roll it up and put something around it. string, bungy cord, strap

Thinking of getting a memory foam mattress or tempur, is there anyone that offers free trials.
Anyone got either…..good or bad?

oooh i have a memory foam mattress.. i love it.. best thing ever!!!! when i bought mine about 2years ago, we where going to go for the tempur, but we got told if we were ‘hot’ sleepers not too …apparantly they get really warm to sleep on and so get uncomfortable (!!!) …i dunno how true this is, but we bought the cheaper version.. and have been made up with it ever since… i would never buy a ‘normal’ mattress again now! ..enjoy..xx
